 Eradication of Worries

Compiled by Barry Nirmal from writing by unknown author

Worry is a kind of mental disease arising out of wrong calculations. The state of one's inability to achieve the things desired or to estimate the consequence correctly and then lose one's mental balance is worrying. The deficiency of stock against need, or the difference between the proposition and achievement, or the difference between what one imagines should happen and what actually happens, is the basic reason for Worry. The happenings are a chain of actions based on the principle of the Cause-and-Effect system under the Law of Nature. To estimate a benefit or a result without understanding the Law of Nature is a basic mistake often committed by man and this alone creates Worry. Inefficiency and fear are the two main factors that give rise to worries. Losing one's mental alertness, incapability to understand the Law of Nature and lack of basic training in thinking and achieving to solve problems can be deemed inefficiency. To imagine the consequences of one's own actions always into bad or painful results, or to imagine about the possible adverse events in life is fear. Worry wears down health. In its developed stage, life becomes a failure or a struggle in itself. Man has to certainly eradicate such an evil from his mind.

In order to remove worries one has to understand the Law of Nature first. Thereafter the faculty of thinking must be developed. Finally self-confidence must be infused. There must be the requisite quantum of endeavor and courage.

Only by the Supreme power which is considered to be God, everything in the Space, from atoms to the largest of stars and planets, is moving and floating the Universe. Each of these planets has its own automatic action and has bearing on the movement of other planets. Such movements, connections and reflections between these planets produce certain results. Thus the functioning of all planets is going on under the direct control of the Supreme Magnetic Power, according to their sphere of action. In the same way that Divine Force alone is providing the life and all the necessities for life.

Under this Law of Nature everything necessary for the birth and existence of all living creatures is provided. And hence this providing Force is called the Providence.

A soul's self-endeavor and capacity when functioning with emotion, jealousy and ignorance, result mostly in worries. However, the capacity to secure relief from pains, miseries and worries and the strength to endure them is also embodied in every little being. When such a capacity to face pains and worries is drained from the life energy that is the state of unconsciousness where the pinch of worries is not felt. When worries cannot either be solved or borne or when they swell to alarming proportions then death, which is inevitable, comes to the rescue, thereby separating the soul and the body. All this is as per the Law of Nature. One should understand and try to remember always that a Mighty Force is protecting, helping and guiding us all through our life.

An assessment voiced very often is that the life of man is full of problems. There are reasons for it. Man enjoys all the natural resources only after giving them artificial changes and artistic shapes. Such a way of life forces him to adopt a community-living. If the community in a nation is highly cultured and the Government is administered by a panel of social-minded wise men, the problems with individuals will gradually get reduced and even come to nothing. But otherwise, in proportion to the multitude of defects in the two sectors, that is, in the culture and in the Government, the problems in the life of individuals will also increase. Thereby the worries start and they develop to the stage of interfering with and impairing peace and happiness in life. So, the responsibility of the individual increases more and more in dealing with and worries. The eradication of worries is a systematic practice in the Art of Life. It is an education for adults and also is an intrinsic need for a man of this Age. Let us go to the practice.

Analyze Worries First

The problems which lead to worries must be divided into four groups: (1) Problems that should be faced; (2) problems to be kept in abeyance knowing the fact that they will be solved by the society or the Law of Nature in due course; (3) problems to be ignored; and (4) problems to be solved immediately.

A child is physically handicapped as a result of polio at the age of two. We know that it cannot be cured either by medicine or by other means. How to solve this problem? It can only be solved by developing our mind to be firm and to live with the infirmity. In the same manner, what can be done, if one individual loses a limb due to an accident? What is the use of brooding over these kinds of problems? We should find out how best the problem could be managed and learn to cultivate cheer so as to mitigate the suffering of the one afflicted and others close to him. That and that alone is the way of wisdom.

In a family, a girl is not married even after she has reached her twenties. Of course, it is the duty of the parents to try for her parents for her marriage. This, however, depends on nature and the community and not on individual effort alone. Such problems can be solved only when the time comes. And while we perform our duties, we have to cultivate the patience to allow Nature to bring in the result at the appropriate time.

In a household, it is possible that the head of the family or some other elderly person has outmoded ideas and notions. He might be in the habit of voicing nagging comments on others who do not follow his advice. We cannot wish him off the scene, and so while being kind and considerate to him in our behavior, we should quietly do what is best for the family, unmindful of the purposeless advice proffered to us.

In a class with this, would be some neighbors tying to provoke us with harsh words and mischievous remarks born out of jealousy or plain spite. You must turn a deaf ear to them an let the problem abate in course of time, unless the activities of the mischief-mongers are of such dimension as to warrant positive action on your part.

A family has property of worth one hundred thousand dollars. It has a debt of $ 10,000. If this debt cannot be cleared with the income of the family in the near future, then the best thing to be done is to sell a part of the property and dispose off the debt.

There are four sons in a family. Their parents are alive. Two sons are married and two are not. One of the married sons wishes to set up his own household. If the parents insist on joint family, then it will lead to all-round misery. In such circumstances, the best course of action is to let that son go.

It is in this manner that we have to analyze our problems and then try to act and solve them according to their circumstances. If we merely worry over problems, it is of no use, because both problems and worries will only increase. If these problems are faced boldly with thinking and endeavor, they can be solved and worries will cease to exist.

Poverty, disease, debts, difference of opinion in the family, greed, jealousy, fear of death of self or relative, loss of wealth, influence and prestige are generally the source of our worries.

We can get rid of poverty and debts by hard work, perseverance and by observing economy in spending. Disease can be managed by taking proper medication and adopting a mode of life that is in tune with Nature. Similarly, difference of opinion in the family can be got over by mutual discussion and consent.

Loss of wealth, influence and fame can be made up by our constant endeavor, righteousness and by sincere service to the community at large. It is not wise to think that all things will be done automatically, even if we forget to do our duties.

Death Is No Problem!

Death of a person close to one or the fear of death of self is also a cause of worry to a great number of persons. Death is not a painful experience to any person as imagined by most people. In fact death should really be construed as deliverance to a living being from all the pains and miseries gathered from time of birth. If it occurs as a natural process, indeed it is a joyous experience. Death through suicide or murder is really sinful and miserable, having spiritual reactions on the relevant person and society. If one knows about the divine value of natural death, one should rather be in a receptive mood. It is the boon provided by the Almighty to all living beings to get complete liberation from the miseries and worries accumulated by the embodied activities from the time of birth onwards.

Death is only a momentary event for any living being. We should not think that the troubles and pains felt by a living being for a shorter or longer duration are involved in the process of death. All the physical pains, whatever they may be, indicate the conflict between the soul and the body. The disturbance in the molecular arrangements in any part of the body caused by the obstruction, diversion or exhaustion of blood, heat or air, which may lead to accumulation and exhaustion of the life energy abnormally in that particular part becomes the reason for pain and disease. The relationship or cooperation between life and body gets disturbed. When such a disturbance increases to a stage where it damages the magnetic organic filaments in the generative cells of the vital fluid, then only death occurs. At the moment of such a Divine operation the living being can feel only an ecstatic pleasure. Even during the excretion of a small quantity of vital fluid through the sexual act or otherwise, is it not a fact that only relief and pleasure are experienced? In the process of death, the whole system of the generative fluid is completely destroyed in an irreversible operation. Now you can understand the feeling of death. If even the excretion of a very small quantity of the vital fluid gives so much happiness, cannot you visualize the degree of the ecstasy when the whole quantity goes out of the body? Of course the person may go into trance by the incident so that he cannot enjoy the happiness with awareness. But the logic of the pleasure is there all the same. What is to be emphasized is that Death is not a painful experience by any means.

Therefore, worrying over fear of death or imagining that death is painful is only a result of ignorance. Every being is born only to die. The desire and ambition to enjoy the world and the aspiration to reach the spiritual goal lengthen the interval between birth and death. When the body, which serves merely as an instrument to the soul, gets damaged or becomes useless for the purpose, the soul is separated by the Divine Doctor with an Ecstatic Operation.

Death can overtake a person only once. It cannot be avoided. Life in general is full of miseries and problems. Death is the goal in the game of life in the world. Then why should we fear death? We should not make fear of death a problem out of ignorance and emotion. Through such inquiry and analysis, fear of death should be overcome so that worry on that account may be dispelled.

Solution Through Wisdom

Worry over the fear of death of self can be eradicated by understanding about the nature of death but, the death of another person does create some problems to connected individuals or to the society, depending on the qualities and services of the dear departed. The responsibilities he had been shouldering are now to be borne by other members in the family or society. The sudden change by an increase in the burden of duties to an individual or a group of men by the death of a person poses a problem no doubt and that could become a grievance. But is there any use grieving the inevitable? The resultant situation has to be managed through a sense of social responsibility and a certain degree of sacrifice on the part of those left behind.

Worry in this category can be annihilated by understanding about Divine protection. Nature has provided all the necessities for all the living beings at the time of birth itself. The zeal and virtue of man make the providence joyous and his laziness and wrong doing may convert the same providence

into miseries. Bu it is sure that the providence is there. Instead of worrying over the changes which are coming under the Universal Law, we should find a proper way to overcome the difficulties.

The Law of Nature always provides for alternatives. On this basis, a new door is automatically opened when the regular door is closed due to any reason. With zeal and perseverance, the new path can be discovered in a short time. Merely worrying over the sudden change in circumstances, consequent on the death of a guardian or a helper, will only cause wastage of time and loss of the mental or physical energy and health.

The death of a child is an unbearable shock to the parents or to the guardians. The parents cannot bear the loss of their offspring. Of course, it is a major calamity for people who are in the common state of knowledge. However, if we deeply think over the subject, a realistic feature of life will come to our view. It has already been explained that death is nothing but an operation of the Divine Doctor to give deliverance to a suffering living being. In fact the death of a child relieves the parents or guardian of all the future burdens in relation to the child. It is blind attachment that often clouds this aspect. Also one link in the chain of population growth in the human society is cut off here. The parents have to keep their mind strong enough to assimilate the incident, respecting the Divine plan of the Evolutionary Architect. They must put the question to themselves: “What is the use of our worrying over the dead child? Can we redeem the child in any way?” By this process only, would they be able to get rid of their distress.

Some impressions of the Karmas of parents take the shape of a child. When this portion is exhausted the child also gets its end. Through the death of the child the dues of the parents towards the spiritual kingdom are decreed and settled by the Divine Court. They should accept the Divine Judgment and pray to the Almighty to bestow upon them the stamina to face the painful change. Unless the parents or guardians come to understand the real inner meaning of the death of a child as detailed above, there is no really easy way to get rid of their worries. Man is born in the world to perform some allotted duties in order to purify the soul and reach the Divine Goal. One should not waste time by giving room to worries of any kind in the mind.

Problems are part of life. With patience and proper planning we should proceed to deal with the problems. If were try to solve a problem hastily and emotionally, then that problem will only get magnified. No man ends his problems by his own deeds. Where a man feels that he has solved a problem, there begins another problem. A man will think that his worries will be over if he finalizes his daughter's marriage. But after the marriage of his daughter has been celebrated, is it not a fact that he has to shoulder further responsibilities which means facing more problems. By building a house, by purchasing land or by getting what we desire at the moment, we only fancy that our worries are over. The next hill is seen only when we get to the top of the first hill and a good traveler should be sportive enough to take the rough with the smooth, realizing and reconciling himself to the fact that is it all in the game of life.

Only Nature can end all our problems. It would suffice if we refrain from creating problems out of ignorance and emotions. As for problems that are not of our making, we should develop the skill to tackle them with clear thinking, free of emotion. Through mature wisdom, we can solve our problems successfully and tactfully. We all do possess such inherent wisdom. What we have to do is to induce and make our wisdom a strong tool to dispel our worries first so that we may achieve happiness, prosperity and peace of mind.

HOW TO FACE WORRIES

(As worries make life miserable they should be eradicated)

1. For this, set-apart half-an-hour. Sit in solitude with a pen and paper, at hand.

2. Compile the worries and serialize them.

3. Divide the worries that create problems into 4 categories as shown below:

i. Problems that should be faced such as chronic disease, death, and loss of property.

ii. Problems to be postponed and to wait patiently till the appropriate time comes; such as

grown up daughters and sons have not got married

iii. Problems to be ignored such as others difference of opinions, jealous talks and deeds.

iv. Problems to be solved immediately.

4. You should not act out of emotion to solve a problem quickly, else more problems may get created out of ignorance.

5. Think deeply how such worries in the past passed away.

6. Don't think that there should be no worries in life. If you have some worries, don't decide to act to completely root them out. When one problem is solved another one will spring up. If these are removed by proper planning, peace and pleasure would prevail.
