ADS Foundation
Founded in 1996, the ADS Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt educational foundation that supports dental education, research, service, and policy development to promote the safety and control of infectious diseases in oral healthcare settings worldwide (Tax ID: 52-1963109).
With its effective use of national and international infection prevention and safety experts, consultants, member volunteers, governmental agencies, other associations, industry and advisory groups such as the Friends of ADS, the ADS Foundation has worked proactively to identify and address current and emerging issues. Since 2019, the organization has:
- Launched and promoted the Dental Infection Prevention and Control Certificate Program™ - earned by 1,500+ oral healthcare personnel
- Launched and advanced the first-ever certifications designed specifically for oral healthcare in the United States - earned by 270+ oral healthcare personnel
- Released an updated version of If Saliva Were Red, and an 18-page facilitators guide (English and Spanish) with 50,000+ views.
- Provided expert insight and feedback to the CDC Division of Oral Health for their development of the Interim Infection Prevention and Control Guidance for Dental Settings During the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Pandemic.
- Executed a contract from the CDC Division of Oral Health which included organizing listening sessions of more than 20 national dental associations, and providing four complimentary CE webinars to the oral health care community on COVID-19 guidance and resources.
- Received a grant from CareQuest Institute for Oral Health and developed the OSAP/CareQuest Institute Best Practices for Infection Control in Dental Clinics During the COVID-19 Pandemic, and OSAP/CareQuest Institute Dental Patient Care in the Era of COVID-19 for patients, available in English and Spanish.
- Created a guide, PowerPoint slides with presenter script, hosted 3 live webinars, and developed an interactive article worth 1 CE credit with funding from CDC to supplement interim CDC guidance for Dental Health Care Personnel (DHCP) who participate in school sealant programs.
- Created an Oral Health in Healthcare Settings to Prevent Pneumonia Toolkit and hosted a dissemination webinar with funding from a CDC Division of Oral Health Contract.
- Created a toolkit for Antibiotic Stewardship for Oral Health through a CDC National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID) Cooperative Agreement.
- Hosted 12 educational conferences, including six OSAP Dental Infection Control Boot Camps, one Tribal Infection Control Boot Camp, and five OSAP Annual Conferences
- Hosted or partnered on 35+ webinars with more than 10,000 participants
- Produced 58 podcasts with over 4,000 downloads
- Earned ADA CERP recognition for a 4-year term (until June 2025) - the highest level of recognition
